HiTechbrite reduces the residual resistance associated with drag viscous resistance by 6%.

- Increases the speed of the boats.
- Reduces the amount of absorbed energy in the hull.
- Decreases the mechanical energy in motor boating and the biomechanical energy in rowing.
- Faster acceleration and minimum time to achieve the target speed for sail boats.
- Improved manoeuvrability in all conditions.

Rigorous tests at the naval laboratory of the prestigious Department of Naval Engineering of Trieste University, have demonstrated remarkable reductions on the level of the Residual Drag

(Rr) related to actual sizes of hulls (10 – 14 meters). The tests have been conducted applying the method of comparative towing tests of the hull
C.77-132,a model with a floating length Lwl = 2,584 m and wet surface WS model = 1.154 m²
The tests have been made at towing speeds that could generate numbers of Reynolds superior to 1*106, such as to permit a turbulent flow around the hull.
The model has been towed, applying and without applying the wax, at different speeds. The obtained experimental values of the two situations have then been compared. Hereafter we make a presentation of the measurable results by scaling the data obtained on the foresaid model to a hull with the same features and a length of 10,33 meters ( ratio 1:4).
Lwl model = 2,584
Lwl boat = 10.33 ( ratio 1:4)
Drawing Rr from the well known formula that expresses the coefficient of residual resistance Cr we obtain :
RR = CR * ρ/2 * WS * V²
Where
RR = residual resistance(value to be determined, which depends on the drag viscous component)
CR = coefficient of residual resistance (experimental values obtained during the towing tests)
ρ = water density at a given temperature (for t = 24° ρ = 104,621)
WS = wet surface of the hull [WS model = 1.154 m²; WS boat = WS model * (scale factor)²]
V = meters/second speed of the model; V boat = V * ( scale factor )1/2
Calculating the RR boat referred to the hull treated with HITECHBRITE by the couple of experimental values V = 1,2952 m/s e CR = 2,1347*10-3 we obtain RR boat= 13,835 kg
Calculating the RR boat referred to the hull NOT treated with HITECHBRITE by the couple of experimental values V = 1,2952 m/s e CR = 2,2755*10-3 we obtain RR boat = 14,670 kg
Kg 14,670 – Kg 13.835 = Kg 0.835 ( 6% )
THE TREATMENT WITH HITECHBRITE HAS REDUCED THE RESIDUAL RESISTANCE, ASSOCIATED WITH THE DRAG VISCOUS RESISTANCE, OF 6%.
The report by the Naval Laboratory Dept. of Trieste University concludes that at higher rates of Reynolds (RN) (which means in actual conditions) the effect of HITECHBRITE on drag reduction may be even higher than in laboratory, as in real movement conditions the turbulence flow is generating numbers of RN which are varying from 1*108 to 1*109, thus much higher than those ones obtained in the laboratory.
